The Centre has been recognised as one of the world’s best congress centres, voted World’s Best Congress Centre in 2004 and 2014 and has been in the top four convention centres in the world from 2002 to 2016. In 2014, NQAV were engaged by the Cairns Convention Centre as the principal contractor to perform an overhaul of the audio and control system for the entire venue. Located in the Cairns CBD, the venue required new audio and conferencing systems for five halls, nine meeting rooms, six conference rooms and a media room.
The completed project was delivered with a world-class audio and control system, allowing attendees the ultimate flexibility for their event. The system is easy to use for staff, offering support from roaming and fixed touch panels to change and control spaces independently.
As well as hosting the G20 conference, the Cairns Convention Centre was awarded The World’s Best congress centre for 2014, among 170 venues across 54 countries. It was also selected to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games Basketball heats.
It was Australia’s first regional convention centre, and NQAV has taken the venue into the 21st Century, with further scope for growth and scalability for changing technology.
